It is very important to know what happens in China under the Chinese Communist Party and to react when we see human rights being violated. My colleague, Andreea Leonte, a researcher on China-related issues, reviewed relevant resources by Romanian authors. These are essential readings for anyone to understand the complicated geopolitical context we live in.
China is home to 1.4 billion people. About 25 million live in Xinjiang, half of them ethnic minorities. Of these, more than 1 million have been imprisoned or held in detention or re-education centres, subjected to forced labour or forced to accept restrictive living and housing conditions. I witnessed their protest in front of the White House because they cannot protest in Tiananmen Square or anywhere else in China.
The Interparliamentary Alliance for China (IPAC) on new evidence of abuses committed by the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC) - the Chinese Communist Party structure that is operationalizing genocide against the Uyghur population, calls for trade sanctions against XPCC and its corporate holding companies, as well as Magnitsky sanctions against XPCC and PRC officials responsible for abuses in the Uyghur region.
