UN Report: +1 million Uyghurs have been imprisoned or held in detention or re-education centres by the Beijing authorities

China is home to 1.4 billion people. About 25 million live in Xinjiang, half of them ethnic minorities. Of these, more than 1 million have been imprisoned or held in detention or re-education centres, subjected to forced labour or forced to accept restrictive living and housing conditions. I witnessed their protest in front of the White House because they cannot protest in Tiananmen Square or anywhere else in China.

A first step towards improving the status of women in Romania: sexual and reproductive health and protection against abuse

On every map related to reproductive rights and the status of women, Romania is marked with 🔴red or 🟠orange. Ioana is a 20-year-old girl from Romania. She gave birth to her first child when she was 15. In her community, it's common to hear of teenage parents having two or three children, maybe more. Parents so young they wouldn't be allowed to legally consume alcohol in other countries of the world.

Four years after August 10, 2018, we have only one direction: to change Romania for the better

August 10, 2018 was an "election" day, perhaps more than a normal election days. August 10, 2018 showed what Romania's population wants. The overwhelming number of Romanians who participated in the protest in Victory Square then, as well as their relatives and loved ones who learned about the PSD's repression of a peaceful movement by the gendarmerie, changed many people's view of politics.
